The Challenge: SOx Emissions & Regulations

Sulphur Oxides (SOx) are major air pollutants, recognized as being toxic to human, plant, and animal health,
and are the primary cause of acid rain. Consequently, regulations to protect the marine environment have become increasingly stringent.
The shipping industry is now governed by the IMO’s global 0.5% sulphur cap (enacted in 2020), in addition to
the pre-existing 0.1% sulphur cap within designated Emission Control Areas (ECAs).

Market Solutions & The Scrubber Advantage

To comply, shipowners have three main options: switching to compliant fuels (MGO/ULSFO),
adopting alternative fuels (like LNG), or installing Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (EGCS), commonly known as scrubbers.
While initial uncertainty about compliant fuel supply was a major concern, the persistent and significant price differential between High Sulphur
Fuel Oil (HSFO) and compliant fuels has solidified the business case for scrubbers. Scrubbers are a proven technology
that allows owners to continue using lower-cost HSFO while remaining in full compliance.

The Global Echo Solution: The MS-SOx Scrubber

Global Echo possesses long-term, hands-on experience in the marine business,
managing new vessel construction and fleet operations from an owner’s perspective.
From this unique vantage point, we recognized that many scrubbers on the market were not suitable for ship
owners due to critical flaws: excessive weight, high costs, and prolonged installation downtime.
Therefore, we invented a new concept: theMS-SOx Scrubber. It is designed by owners, for owners, focusing on what truly matters:
– High Reliability
– Easy & Intuitive Opeation
– Minimized Cost & Installation Downtime
